Marble Man of Cow Flat
From Kook Science
The Marble Man of Cow Flat, also known as the Marble Man from Orange, was an alleged petrified man, fabricated by Giuseppe Sala at Cow Flat, near Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia and then "discovered" by Sala at another quarry in Calula, Mullion Creek, near Orange, NSW, Australia, a town some 75 km. (46 miles) away. Contemporary descriptions of the statue related that it was white marble of a man of some 1.78 m. (5 ft. 10 in.) with European features and had been treated with certain acids to give it an aged appearance.
