Xipe
From Kook Science
Xipe is an appellation of Nicaraguan-origin for a cryptid described as a cave-dwelling, tailless, monkey-like creature with backward-facing feet (toes at the heel). Per a 1990 report, one Juan Mendiola of the Nicaraguan Environmental Resources Institute (DIRENA) stated that the creature is "half-way between a gorilla and a white-faced monkey," measured at 75-100cm (2.4-3.25 ft.) in height, and the name xipe is derived from a Mayan word for "lost child" (though others have suggested a correspondence with the Nahuatl/Aztec Xipe Totec, "the Flayed One").
