Sasquatch (from Halkomelem Salish: sásq’ets [pronounced: ses-kw-etch], "Wild Man (of the woods)") is a crypto-hominid of the Pacific Northwest region in North America, the name having been anglicised from the Salish by Canadian researcher J. W. Burns to describe a single creature based on various regional First Nations legends. It is frequently conflated with the Californian Bigfoot and other regional crypto-hominids.
