Gematria (from the Hebrew: גמטריא or גימטריה, gematriot; from the Greek γεωμετρία, geōmetriā, "geometry") may refer to any alphabetical-to-numeric code that converts letters into numeric values, . The use of such coding has been traced to the the Assyro-Babylonian cipher system and the Greek isopsephy, which in turn inspired the Hebrew and English gematria.
