The Fortean Calendar (or Fortean Perpetual 13-Month Calendar) is a reformed calendar model, implemented by Tiffany Thayer for the use of the Fortean Society, which, firstly, bases the year on the foundation of the society in 1931, and adopts a thirteen month annual cycle, whereby each month is divided into twenty-eight day periods, all beginning on a Sunday and ending on a Saturday. The naming of the months and days of the week are unchanged in the Fortean calendar, the only addition being the thirteen month, separating the months of June and July, which was called Fort (after Charles Fort). The solar month scheme was originally invented by Moses B. Cotsworth and publicised as the International Fixed Calendar in 1902.
