Erich Anton Paul von Däniken is a Swiss ufologist, widely known for his theories regarding extraterrestrial alien influence on ancient human civilisations, as detailed in a series of books and documentary films, beginning with 1968's Chariots of the Gods? Unsolved Mysteries of the Past.
