From Kook Science

A Gas-Pipe refers to a type of sealed cylinder, either empty or containing some quantity of metals and other agents, having one or two wires connected to it, that were formerly hawked as a medical device, the pipe alleged to act as a means of drawing oxygen into the user (hence being a gas-pipe), with this course of treatment being touted as a cure-all by the vendors. Such devices were popularised by the likes of Hercules Sanche, who invented and sold the Electropoise and Oxydonor "Victory" gas-pipes in the late nineteenth century, inspiring a host of imitators, including: Oxypathor, Farador, Oxybon, Oxyhealer, among others.
