Ruth Whitmer Shick Montgomery (June 11, 1912 - June 10, 2001) was an American journalist and syndicated news columnist, active as a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent for over twenty years, and author of numerous works on subjects such as the afterlife and psychic mediums, including books about Jeane Dixon and Arthur Ford. During the 1970s, Montgomery began to make prophetic claims of her own, predicting a Third World War beginning in Ethiopia would occur during the 1980s and a cataclysmic polar shift toward the end of the millennium would see the destruction of civilisation.
