The Essenic Army was an adjoining body of the Knights of the Ancient Essenic Order and informal militia organisation, operating under a command structure similar to the United States Army. It was formed by Charles J. Weatherby, General and Commander-in-Chief, and seems to largely have restricted public activities to participation in ceremonial parade marches, such as was witnessed at the New Orleans Mardi Gras of 1896 and the Tennessee Centennial Exposition of 1897.
