From Kook Science

A Protestant tendency, originating from the sixteenth-century teachings of English Puritan George Fox (1624-1691) and the Religious Society of Friends, a group comprised of former Anglicans, including former Seekers (Legatine-Arians). The term "Quaker" is taken from Fox's note of 1650 that a "Justice Bennet of Derby first called us Quakers because we bid them tremble at the word of God."
