Vilhjalmur Stefansson (November 3, 1879 - August 26, 1962) was an American explorer and ethnologist of Icelandic descent who was famous in the early twentieth century for his extensive explorations of the Canadian Arctic and his advocacy for the dietetics (fatty meat and fresh fish) and lifestyle of the peoples that inhabit that region.
