Project MAGNET (Ufology)
From Kook Science
Project Magnet (1950-1954) was an informal Canadian Department of Transport program, initiated and managed by Wilbert Smith, dedicated to the "study of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and the physical principles connected to them," and specifically interested in "the concepts of geomagnetism, and the belief that it may be possible to use and manipulate the Earth's magnetic field as a propulsion method for vehicles."[1] According to Smith himself, the project did not receive any government funding and was not "an official government project," and eventually ceased to have any formal sanction owing to unwanted media attention,[2] after which time he continued his research privately.
