Matthew Thorton is the alias of a conspiracy pamphleteer who mails collages from California to various institutions, restaurants, and private individuals in the United States. The Thorton collages often feature maps of specific regions, generally within the United States, alongside copies of illustrative historical images, such as drawings of the Tower of Babel or Egyptian tomb art, and more whimsical images, such as a clipping of the face of a kitten, which are accompanied by captions, both hand-written and cut-and-paste from existing works.
