Lionel Wafer (1661-1705) was a Welsh-born naval surgeon and buccaneer who spent several years during the 1680s among the Guna (Cuna) people of the Isthmus of Darien, including the so-called White People of Darien, which he detailed in his 1699 book A New Voyage and Description of the Isthmus of America.
