Happy Science (Japanese: 幸福の科学, こうふくのかがく, Kōfuku-no-Kagaku), also known as the Institute for Research in Human Happiness, is a Japan-based religious organisation founded in 1986 by Ryuho Okawa (大川 隆法), who asserted himself to be the incarnation of El Cantare (エル・カンターレ). The group has previously claimed over ten million members internationally, and maintains extensive publishing, evangelical outreach, and educational groups across the world.
