Gnosticism (from the Greek: γνωστικός, gnōstikós,, "having knowledge") is a religious philosophy that proposes a dualistic universe divided between the material and the spiritual, these being each fully opposed to one another, the latter reality only being revealed and accessible to an initiate through learned, esoteric study.
