Bucky was, according to Buck Nelson, an American-born human being (and distant cousin of Nelson) who had been brought to Venus, where he became an English language teacher, at the age of 17 (c. early 1950s). Their common ancestry was reported as being a reason for their voices having a "slight similarity" in recordings, though "Bucky's is higher in pitch [than Nelson's] and has an accent like a person from one of the Scandinavian countries."
