The Aerial Phenomena Research Organization was an American organisation dedicated to "conduct[ing] investigations and research into the phenomenon of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and to find[ing] a scientifically acceptable solution to this phenomenon", founded by Jim and Coral Lorenzen in 1952. During their most active period, they published a regular newsletter, the "A.P.R.O. Bulletin" (1955-73), and maintained a membership roll of over a thousand regular members. Through the seventies and eighties the group began to shed membership - including Walt Andrus, an APRO regional director, who left in 1969 to found the Midwest UFO Network (later the Mutual UFO Network). APRO was eventually disbanded following the deaths of the Lorenzens in the late 1980s.
